Nostos (“we”, “us”) runs a waitlist for a plug-in home fragrance product. This page explains exactly what we collect when you fill in that form, where it is stored, who can see it, and how to have it deleted. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
We are the data fiduciary for this information under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. If you are in the UK or EU, we act as the data controller under the UK GDPR / GDPR.
What we collect
Only what the waitlist form asks for:
- Email address — required. It is how we contact you when your batch opens.
- First name — optional, used only to address you properly.
- Scent preference — which of the twelve you picked.
- Price expectation — the band you selected, or a number you typed.
- Your memory — optional free text. Please see the note below.
- Marketing consent — whether you ticked the box, and the time you submitted.
We do not ask for your phone number, address, date of birth, or payment details. There is no deposit and no card required to join the waitlist, so we never handle payment information.
A note about the memory field
That box invites you to describe something personal, and people often write about family, childhood homes, or people who have died. Please write only what you are comfortable having read by a small team. Treat it as a letter to a stranger, not a diary entry. If we ever want to quote a memory publicly, we will ask you first, by email, and a refusal costs you nothing.
Why we collect it
- To email you once when your batch opens, and to place you in the queue in signup order.
- To decide which scents to make first and what to charge, in aggregate.
- To send occasional studio updates — only if you ticked the consent box.
We do not sell your data, rent it, or share it with advertisers or data brokers. Ever.
Where it is stored
Waitlist entries are stored in a Supabase (PostgreSQL) database. If you gave marketing consent, your email and preferences are also sent to Brevo, which we use to send email. Both are established processors acting on our instructions. This may involve your data being stored on servers outside India.
The database is configured so that the public website can only add a signup — it cannot read, edit or delete existing entries. Reading the list requires separate credentials held by us.
Cookies and tracking
This site sets no advertising cookies of its own. We store one small item in your browser’s local storage to remember whether you chose light or dark mode.
If we are running advertising, this site may load the Meta Pixel, which tells Meta that a visit or a signup happened so we can measure whether an ad worked. It may set cookies and can be used by Meta to show you ads. You can limit this in your Meta ad preferences, or block it with any standard tracker-blocking extension. Blocking it does not affect your place on the waitlist.
How long we keep it
Until the waitlist has served its purpose or you ask us to delete it, whichever comes first. If the product never launches, we will delete the list and say so by email.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you what we hold, correct it, or erase it. You can withdraw marketing consent at any time — every email has a one-click unsubscribe, and unsubscribing does not remove you from the waitlist.
Email hello@nostoss.in and we will act within 30 days. If you are unhappy with how we handled a request, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India, or your local supervisory authority.
Children
The waitlist is not intended for anyone under 18. If you believe a child has signed up, email us and we will remove the entry.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects you materially, we will email everyone on the list rather than quietly updating this page.
